Privacy Policy

What We Collect

The Outdoor Cooking Guide is a content site. We collect very little data, and none of it is sold to anyone:

• Email address: only if you subscribe to our newsletter or download our free checklist. We never sell or share your email with third parties, and every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.
• Analytics data: aggregated, pseudonymous usage data (which pages are visited, roughly where visitors come from, which links get clicked) so we can see what's useful and what isn't.

Analytics Services

We use three analytics services:

• Google Analytics 4: page views and conversion events (like newsletter signups and outbound link clicks). GA4 sets cookies only after you accept them in our cookie banner.
• PostHog: page view analytics, configured without session recordings.
• Vercel Analytics: privacy-friendly, cookie-free traffic measurement provided by our hosting platform.

None of this data identifies you personally, and we don't combine it with your email address.

Affiliate Links

Some links on this site (particularly in our gear comparison pages and within guides) are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. These links go to Amazon and include our Associates tag.

Clicking an affiliate link does not give us access to any of your personal or purchase information. Amazon handles the transaction entirely under its own privacy policy.

Cookies & Local Storage

When you first visit, we ask whether you accept analytics cookies. Decline and GA4 cookies are never set. We also use your browser's local storage for small conveniences that never leave your device:

• cookie-consent: remembers your answer to the cookie banner so we don't ask again.
• tocg-popup-dismissed: remembers that you dismissed our newsletter popup so it stops reappearing.

We do not use third-party advertising cookies or ad networks.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Vercel: for hosting and serving this website
• ConvertKit: for storing our newsletter list and sending emails
• Google Analytics 4 and PostHog: for the analytics described above
• Amazon Associates: for affiliate links on product recommendations

Each of these services has its own privacy policy that governs how they handle data.

Your Rights

You can unsubscribe from our newsletter at any time using the link in any email we send. If you want us to delete any data we have about you, such as your newsletter subscription, email us at cwrkuhn@gmail.com and we'll take care of it.

Changes

If we make significant changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. We're a small site: no surprises.
